Liguria

Liguria won her maiden race in her second career outing as a 2-year-old on Oct. 22, 2022, at the Belmont at the Big A meet. For her second start she was shipped out to southern California to compete in the Grade 3 $100,000 Jimmy Durante Stakes at Del Mar.  After drawing post 11 in a field of 12 fillies, Liguria was still highly thought of enough to be sent off as the heavy 7-5 favorite in the race, and she did not disappoint. Going one mile on the turf at Del Mar, Liguria stalked the pace under jockey Flavien Prat and made a wide move into contention on the turn before assuming command in the final furlong and drawing off to a 2 1/4-length victory in a time of 1:36.16.

Liguria finished sixth in the final race of her 3-year-old campaign in the Grade 1 Queen Elizabeth Challenge Cup at Keeneland on Oct. 14, 2023 and then was sidelined for more than a year until she finally made her return to the racetrack as a 5-year-old on Feb. 1, 2025, when she finished third in a Grade 3 Megahertz Stakes going a mile on the turf at Santa Anita.

Ligiria returned to the winner's circle for the first time in nearly two years when she won her subsequent start in the Grade 2 $200,000 Buena Vista Stakes going one mile on the turf at Santa Anita, topping a field of six by a head.

Liguria is trained by Chad Brown. She was bred in Kentucky by the sire War Front out of the mare Lerichi by Woodman.
