Continuar began his career in October 2022 at Hanshin Racecourse with one-length win in an 1,800-meter (about 1 1/8-mile) race on a muddy track. He then finished second by a nose at the same track and distance to Derma Sotogake, another talented colt from the same crop who would later win the UAE Derby Sponsored by Atlantis the Royal. Continuar closed his 2-year-old season with a half-length win in the 1,600-meter (about one-mile) Cattleya Stakes at Tokyo on the Japanese Road to the Kentucky Derby.

The chestnut colt by Drefong opened his 3-year-old season with a fifth-place finish, beaten by 3 ½ lengths in the Saudi Derby Presented by Boutique Group and followed with a third-place finish in the UAE Derby on March 25, 2023 on the Dubai World Cup undercard.
Based on points earned in Japan, Continuar received an automatic berth to the 149th Kentucky Derby, but was withdrawn from the race on May 4.
Continuar was produced by the unraced King Kamehameha mare Pan de Ring, a half-sister to two-time Japanese Horse of the Year Almond Eye.
