Bio
As a young teenager growing up in Arkansas, Peitz took the first lessons in his racing education at Oaklawn Park. Peitz attended the University of Arkansas for three semesters before deciding that he wanted a career on the racetrack. Through a friend, he was introduced to trainer Paul Adwell and got a job as a hotwalker and groom. Peitz later worked as a groom, foreman and assistant for Joe Canty when he trained Cox's Ridge and champion Temperence Hill. When he retired, Canty helped Peitz start his own stable in 1987.

Peitz has worked for owners Robert and Lawana Low since the mid-1990s and has developed their top runners, Grade 1 winner Capote Belle; Real Cozzy; Green Fee; Steppenwolfer, who finished third in the 2006 Kentucky Derby; and Arienza, the second foal out of 2002 Horse of the Year Azeri.
