Frederic "Freddie" Head was an accomplished international jockey before hanging up his boots for a training career. As a jockey Head rode legendary filly Miesque to two consecutive Breeders' Cup Mile victories, among other notable wins.
Head grew up in a racing family. His grandfather was a jockey, his father Alec was a trainer and jockey, and his sister Criquette is also a trainer. Freddie rode a Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe winner for both his father and sister.

Freddie turned to training in 1998 and would later become the first man to win a Breeders' Cup race as a jockey and as a trainer when saddling Goldikova to victory in the 2008 Breeders' Cup Mile. The spectacular racemare would also capture the 2009 and 2010 editions of the race to become the only three-time Breeders' Cup winner and cement her status as one of the all-time greats.
