History

Started in 1983, the Poker Handicap is held at Belmont Park every summer going one-mile (eight furlongs) on the turf for horses four and older. Elusive Quality holds the fastest time in the race, finishing in 1:31.63 in 1998 and Fourstardave, Affirmed Success and King Kreesa have all won the race three times with three jockeys winning three editions of the race and four trainers winning it two times. Horses such as Caress, Volponi and Kip Deville are all on the winner’s list.
