Tony Dutrow, son of Dick Dutrow, a trainer who won more than 3,600 races, started working in his father’s barn when he was 10. He is the eldest of the three Dutrow brothers, all of whom have been trainers, and his wife helps him run the stable.

Dutrow opened his own stable in New York in 1987 after working for two years for the late Bobby Frankel and credits the Hall of Fame trainer for helping him establish his own stable. He now maintains divisions in New York, Delaware and Pennsylvania. In 2010, he trained Havre de Grace for owner Rick Porter’s Fox Hill Farm before she was sent to Larry Jones in 2011 and became the 2011 Horse of the Year. His other graded stakes winners include Embellish the Lace, The Big Beast, I Spent It, So Many Ways, Grace Hall, Seattle Smooth and A Little Warm.
