Anothertwistafate

Anothertwistafate finished ninth, beaten by 15 lengths in his career debut in November 2018 at Santa Anita Park. He improved significantly when switching to the synthetic surface at Golden Gate Fields and stretching out in distance to 1 1/16 miles for his second start, leading from start to finish in a four-length romp going 1 1/16 miles on Dec. 9.

In his 3-year-old debut, Anothertwistafate again controlled the pace and rolled to a five-length runaway victory in a one-mile allowance-optional claiming race.

In his second start of 2019, Anothertwistafate faced a class test in his first try against stakes competition in the 1 1/8-mile El Camino Real Derby and he aced the exam. Jockey Juan Hernandez sent him right to the front and he simply dominated the opposition, surging well clear in the stretch on his way to a seven-length win. He earned 10 qualifying points for the Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve with the win.

Anothertwistafate made his next start in another Kentucky Derby points race, the March 24 Sunland Park Derby. He rallied in the stretch and had clear aim on leader Cutting Humor, but came up just short in a game runner-up effort, his first start on dirt since his debut. Anothertwistafate picked up 20 more qualifying points for the Kentucky Derby in the race. He followed with another runner-up finish on April 13 in the Stonestreet Lexington Stakes at Keeneland.

Anothertwistafate returned in the May 18 Preakness Stakes, where he stalked the pace in third through six furlongs under Jose Ortiz but had no rally in the stretch, tiring to finish 10th. 

After the Preakness, Anothertwistafate did not race again until nearly 16 months later, returning in the 2020 Grade 3 Longacres Mile Handicap on Sept. 10 at Emerald Downs. Sent off as the 6-5 favorite, he rolled to a 4 1/2-length victory in an auspicious comeback. Anothertwistafate made his first start on grass in the Grade 2 Seabiscuit Handicap Nov. 28 and faded to finish fourth at Del Mar.

Anothertwistafate made his 5-year-old debut in the Grade 2 San Gabriel Stakes, remaining on the grass, and stalked the pace from second, a few lengths behind Bob and Jackie. He launched his winning bid on the final turn, seized command in early stretch, and shook free late for a dominant 2 1/4-length victory.

The bay colt is by Scat Daddy, sire of 2018 Triple Crown winner Justify. His dam (mother), Imprecation, is a half-sister (same dam, different sire) to 2003 French Oaks winner Nebraska Tornado and two other group or graded stakes winners.
