Off an impressive maiden win at Churchill Downs on Sept. 25, Howling Time was the 19-10 favorite in the Street Sense Stakes at the same track on Oct. 31. He lived up to expectations with a sharp 3 1/4-length victory. His 2-year-old campaign ended with a fifth-place finish in the Grade 2 Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes at Churchill on Nov. 27.

Howling Time showed little when coming back at age 3 in two Kentucky Derby preps and did not run in any of the Triple Crown races. He got back in winning form on May 21 at his home track of Churchill Downs, taking a 1 1/16-mile allowance optional claiming race by five lengths, and then lost a tough decision by a nose to Cyberknife in the Grade 3 Matt Winn Stakes at the same track and distance on June 12.
