Our Shot won one of his first three starts when racing on the dirt in New York and Pennsylvania, but a switch to turf for his final race as a 3-year-old in 2022 proved eye-opening. The Kantharos gelding closed with a powerful rush from far off the pace to win by a head on the Black-Eyed Susan Stakes undercard at Pimlico.

Seven of Our Shot’s eight starts in 2023 came on the grass and he posted two wins, two seconds, and one third in those race along with a win on the dirt. He also earned a trio of stakes placings during his 4-year-old season in 2023, finishing third in the Harvey Pack Stakes at Saratoga and second in both the Grade 2 Woodford Stakes Presented by FanDuel at Keeneland and the Get Serious Stakes at Monmouth Park.
Our Shot was winless in his first six races of 2024, but he started to display improved form in the summer at Saratoga, where he finished second in an allowance race in July and second by a head in the Harvey Pack Stakes.
Our Shot earned a breakthrough stakes win in his seventh race of 2024, when he closed with powerful stretch rally for a 1 3/4-length victory in the $350,000 Grade 2 Woodford Stakes at Keeneland Oct. 5. He completed 5 ½ furlongs on firm turf in 1:02.36.
Stakes-placed winner Fleetheart, by Northern Afleet, is the dam (mother) of Our Shot.
