A $530,000 purchase at the Ocala Breeders' Sale in March 2021, Roger McQueen had high expectations going into his debut. He was the 11-10 favorite in a maiden special weight at Churchill Downs on May 22. He rated off the pace and ended up third, beaten by 3 1/2 lengths. The second-place finish in that race, Gunite, went back to win the Grade 1 Hopeful Stakes.
