Mo Forza

After running second three times and third once in his first five races, Mo Forza won a one-mile maiden special weight race Sept. 29 at Santa Anita Park. He followed with a 1 ¾-length score in the Grade 2 Twilight Derby on the Nov. 2 Breeders’ Cup World Championships undercard, and then extended his winning streak to three with a victory in the Grade 1 Hollywood Derby Nov. 30 at Del Mar.

Mo Forza continued his career-best form by posting a fourth consecutive win to close out 2019, taking the Grade 2 Mathis Brothers Mile at Santa Anita on Dec. 28 by 1 ¼ lengths.

In 2020, Mo Forza started his campaign by shipping to Florida for the Pegasus World Cup Turf Invitational Presented by Runhappy, where he finished ninth. After a seven-month break, trainer Peter Miller brought him back for the Del Mar Mile Handicap on Aug. 23, and the colt showed no rust from the layoff, recovering from a slow start to dominate the race by 4 ¼ lengths. He followed that up with another easy win, taking the Oct. 3 City of Hope Mile Stakes at Santa Anita Park by 1 ¾ lengths as the 3-5 favorite.

Mo Forza did not make his 2021 debut until Aug. 21, when he came from off a slow pace to win the Grade 2 Del Mar Mile Stakes by a head. He continued his winning ways in the Grade 2 City of Hope Mile Stakes at Santa Anita on Oct. 2, winning that race for the second year in a row. He rated towards the back of the pack early on, then made a perfectly-timed move in the stretch and got up in the last few strides.

Mo Forza is out of the unraced Unusual Heat mare Inflamed, a full-sister to stakes winners Burns and Burnside.
