River Thames

River Thames began his career as a 3-year-old with a win in his first lifetime outing in a six-furlong maiden race at Gulfstream Park on Jan. 11, 2025. He then won again in his second outing when he took a Gulfstream Park one-mile allowance optional claiming race by 6 1/2 lengths on Feb. 1.

River Thames entered stakes company for the first time in his third start in the Grade 2 $400,000 Coolmore Fountain of Youth Stakes going 1 1/16 miles at Gulfstream Park on March 1. River Thames pressed the pace throughout in the six-horse field in the Fountain of Youth and forged a lead in the stretch until overtaken by a neck at the wire by a fast-closing Sovereignty to settle for second. The Fountain of Youth was a points race on the road to the 2025 Kentucky Derby presented by Woodford Reserve, and he earned 25 Derby qualifying points thanks to his runner-up finish.

River Thames is trained by Todd Pletcher. He was bred in New York by the sire Maclean's Music out of the mare Proportionality by Discreet Cat.
