First run in 1997, the Lone Star Park Handicap is run at Lone Star Park going 8 ½ furlongs (1 1/16 miles) on dirt for horses 3 and older. It has been graded since 2000 and Mocha Express is the only horse to win it twice. Both Marlon St. Julien and Garrett Gomez lead all jockeys with two wins each while Mocha Express’ trainer Tim Harder is also the only trainer to have won it twice. Notable horses to win it include Congaree, Bob and John and Awesome Gem.
